I'm Richard Long. My first car was a 1958 Reliant Regal IV convertible. One of the classic cars I own is a 1971 Reliant Scimitar GTE SE5a. When I joined the Reliant Sabre and Scimitar Owners Club I chose 'Robin Reliant' as my identity for the club forum. With a Reliant engine in my racing car and my 'previous' with other Reliants I thought it would be an appropriate 'nom de guerre' for my racing activities too. Hence 'Robin Reliant Goes Racing'!; I've been working on cars since before I was old enough to have a driving licence and I run a small collection of classic cars including a 1947 Triumph Roadster, a 1953 Lanchester Leda restoration project, the Reliant Scimitar, a 20 year-old Land Rover Discovery II Td5 that I use as my tow car and a 1991 Peugeot 205 that I use as my everyday car and run on waste vegetable oil, but this is my first venture into motor sport. As I tackle each new job I'm learning a lot about things that might be useful to other newcomers, so I decided to write this blog. I'd be very pleased to receive any advice that others can offer, and to get in touch with any like-minded enthusiasts - use the 'Contact' page. Some details of my fleet of cars can be seen by clicking 'Cars' above or the thumbnails below.
